Is Oak Ridge booking weddings?
We are not currently booking weddings at the mansion or main grounds. We hope to reopen in the future. The carriage house is available for receptions.
Do I need an ABC license for alcohol that is served at my event?
For a carriage house event, an alcohol license is only required if there is going to be a cash bar or alcohol is covered in an admission price.
What does Oak Ridge provide for a carriage house rental?
Gold chivari chairs are provided for receptions or other seated events at the Carriage House. A dance floor is also available at the Carriage House for use with a set-up fee. We use 60” round tables for guest seating and 48” round tables for wedding cake display. We provide 8’, 6’ and 5’ tables for the caterer.
Who provides the linens for my event?
Typically the linens, glassware, dishes and bar setup are acquired through the caterers. However, some prefer to rent these items themselves from the rental company of their choice.
Can I have my bridal portrait taken at Oak Ridge?
If a wedding reception is booked at the carriage house then this is included in our package at no additional cost. The portrait session must be scheduled based on availability for a maximum of 3 hours. Please email to inquire about pricing for a portrait session time if not utilizing our facility.
Is there a list of required vendors to be used on site for my wedding?
No; however, we do reserve the right to approve vendors prior to the event.
Is there any lodging available in the area?
Please visit the Nelson County website to find a list of places to stay in the area. We are 35 minutes from both Charlottesville and Lynchburg, where there are many options to choose from for lodging.
Can anyone bike, ride, or walk the trails?
Our trails are open to the public only during designated events. If you are interested in developing a new event which utilizes the trails, please contact Reagan Thompson at 434-409-8592. See our farm page for current events which use the trail.
Can I visit Oak Ridge for a photography session outside of scheduled events?
We are happy to work with an insured photography to host a photo session on various portions of the farm. We do not allow individuals to take photos at the Oak Tree without a scheduled session. There is a fee for photo session site rentals. Currently the mansion and surrounding gardens are closed to the public.
