What event venues are currently being booked at Oak Ridge?
The race track, trail system, and the Carriage House are options for special events in 2025-2026. The mansion, main gardens, and chapel are currently closed at this time. The Carriage House is the perfect venue for banquets, private parties, fundraisers, weddings & receptions. What does Oak Ridge provide for a carriage house rental?
Gold chivari chairs are provided for receptions or other seated events at the Carriage House. A dance floor is also available at the Carriage House for use with a set-up fee. We use 60” round tables for guest seating and 48” round tables for the wedding cake display. We provide 8’, 6’, and 5’ tables for the caterer. Linens are not provided.
What is the history of Oak Ridge before the Emancipation Proclamation?
Although little is known about the specifics of the enslaved at Oak Ridge in the 1800s, the Rives family records do list 124 slaves at the property. This dreadful practice ended in Virginia with the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation.
May Event Promotors or Guests display signage at Oak Ridge events?
We do not allow any political signage displayed at our EVENTS or any signage that Oak Ridge Owners or Staff interpret to be racist, sexist, or that express hatred toward others. Oak Ridge Owners/Staff reserve the right to demand that CLIENT and/or guests remove such signs. If the CLIENT/guests refuse to remove such signs or flags from the property, then they will be asked to leave the property without a refund. They may be banned from future attendance. Oak Ridge Estate and Farm clients and guests are required to show kindness to all.
Can I do a photo shoot Oak Ridge?
An outdoor photography session must be scheduled based on venue availability, with a maximum duration of 2 hours. Please email oakridgecarriagehouse@outlook.com to inquire about rates. An insured photographer must be utilized.
Is there a list of required vendors to be used for my event?
We do not have an on-site caterer. We encourage you to contract with an insured, licensed caterer in Nelson County, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, or the surrounding areas. Vendors require venue approval.
Is there any lodging available in the area?
Please visit the Nelson County website to find a list of places to stay in the area. We are 35 minutes from both Charlottesville and Lynchburg, where there are many options to choose from for lodging.
Can anyone bike, ride, or walk the trails?
Access is granted only during special events and only when the organizers include trail usage as part of the experience. Dirt bikes and ORV are only allowed to access the trails during an event specific to these activities. Each event will provide guests with access guidelines. Email us at info@oakridgeestate.com
Can I visit Oak Ridge for a photography session outside of scheduled events?

Does the race track accommodate mass gatherings?
Yes, we have been the venue for many large festivals and events since the 1990s. If you are a promoter seeking a new site in Central Virginia, email info@oakridgeesate.com for information.
Do I need an ABC license for alcohol that is served at my event?
This will depend on the type of event. For a carriage house event, an alcohol license is only required if there will be a cash bar or if alcohol is included in the admission price.
